DATA QUALITY INFORMATION 1. Attribute Accuracy Explanation: 2. Attribute Accuracy: __________% __X__Unknown_____ _ _no accuracy assessment performed on dataset 3. Description of Data Completeness:. 4. Minimum Mapping Unit: ___Unknown ___ 5. Positional Accuracy Comments: This cover was digitized from a set of scanned nautical charts, and can be no more accurate than this source material. Uncertainty in the nautical charts result from 2 primary sources: distortion during scanning; and RMS error in georeferencing. RMS Error was less than 20 meters for all charts. Comparison of these charts with 1) a protracted latitude/longitude grid and 2) USFS coastline (based on aerial photography) indicate reasonably good correspondence for Glacier Bay and Cape Spencer. Distortion was greatest in the north- west portion of the yak_bay cahrt. 6. Source Information: NOAA Nautical Charts for Glacier Bay (Chart #17318), Icy Strait to Cross Sound (Chart #17302), Cape Spencer (Chart #17301), and Cross Sound to Yakutat Bay (Chart #16760). 7. Date of Source Data: VARIES 8. Scale of Source Data: Glacier Bay and Icy Strait at 1:80,000; Cape Spencer at 1:40,000, and Cross Sound to Yakutat Bay at 1:300,000. 9. Data Processing Description: Hard-copy charts were scanned by the GIS Office of the National Park Service, Alaska Regional Office at a resolution of 200 dots-per-inch. Each chart was georeferenced in the source projection based on latitude / longitude grid on the chart. These images were converted to grids and re-projected into UTM Zone 8, NAD27. Coastlines were digitized from these source maps. For any given stretch of coastline, the highest resolution chart was used. High and low tide lines were digitized to identify intertidal zones. III.
