Taxonomy Is Fundamental to the NBII
Taxonomic nomenclature and standards are another area of NBII concern. Taxonomy is the science of animal and plant classification in which related organisms are grouped together based on their characteristics. Understanding the similarities and differences among groups of organisms is the foundation for understanding all other aspects of biology and ecology. Similarly, taxonomic standards will help document the quality of the information we provide.
Toward that end, BRD is cooperating.
