Enhancing Community Capacity to use Spatial Information

Map displays for the Applegate Valley

The map displays presented here were created from publicly available data compiled through this project. The source data used to create these maps are available on the public access sites in the Applegate Valley area. Interrain Pacific makes no claim as to the accuracy of the data and information presented here, and has not field verified the data or any of the hypothetical analyses. No conclusions are implied by the map displays. With proper field verification and broader expert discussion the source GIS data used to create these displays could be applied as a useful analytical and decision support tool.

Applegate Valley: Primary Sub-watersheds (19K)
Shows six primary sub-watersheds as delineated (at a source scale of 1:24,000) by the Regional Ecosystem Office in their "5th field" watershed coverage. The source data provides a consistent set of watersheds (5th field) across the State of Oregon that nest within established USGS hydrologic units (4th field).

Applegate Valley: Broad Ownership Patterns (21K)
Ownership defined in five broad categories: Federal, State, County, Private Industrial (forestland), and Private non-industrial.

The Applegate Valley from Space (99K)
An image map based on the integration of a 1991 Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) image and GIS data for major roads and towns as well as sub-watersheds on the Applegate Valley.

Applegate Valley Population Density & Neighborhoods (26K)
Population density as number of persons per 100 square miles in the Applegate Valley and vicinity. Based on the 1990 Census of Population and Housing. Also includes neighborhood boundaries as developed by the Rogue Insititute for Ecology and Economy.

Lower Applegate Watershed: Josephine County Zoning (26K)
Shows land use zoning by tax lot in Josephine County portion of the lower Applegate watershed. Based on zoning codes in tax lot data developed by Josephine County. "Missing data" indicated on the may be the result of tax lots in transition or redefinition. The data used to develop this display is dated. The date of the last update is unknown, but is estimated to be in early 1995.

Digital Orthophoto — NE Corner of Williams Quad (121K)
A sample of some of the Digital Orthophotography data available for the Applegate area. Shows a portion of the 7.5 minute Williams quad including Horizon Hills road and the Williams School. The source data was developed by the Forest Service Region 6 at a 1 meter resolution, but resampled here to a 5 meter resolution.
