Abstract:

This data contains significant metalliferous lode deposit locations as determined by the U.S. Geological Survey and published in U.S.G.S. Bulletin 1786. The term "significant deposits" is defined as all metalliferous mines, prospects, deposits, or occurrences that the authors and contributors judge to be important, on the basis of size, geological importance, or interest, for an in-depth survey.

Purpose:

This digital data was created for mapping. This data was originally used in conjunction with the State Land Selections Project.

Supplemental_Information:

Procedures_Used: Data was digitized from 1:5000000 map, Plate #1, which is part of the U.S. Geological Survey Bulletin 1786, significant Metalliferous Lode Deposits and Placer Districts of Alaska.

Revisions:

Request for data from OD Odsather PCO Not all points from source have been automated. Southeast Alaska not included. These 107 points were determined to be significant by T.Smith and T. Bundtzen of DGGS.

Four deposits were added by DGGS from other published sources. Replaced by new coverage from R. Clement 2/5/92

3/20/97 M. Gorham Restored from Erik Kenning's disk. He may have changed some of the annotation. Fixed annotation subclasses.

10/9/97 M. Gorham The following modifications were made. Revisions were suggested and verified by Kerwin Krause and Mitch Henning both of ADNR, Division of Mining and Water.
