Habitat pressures and risks to Salmon and Salmon Habitat in the Copper River Watershed, a compilation of information developed for the Ecotrust Copper River Program and the Copper River Watershed Project.
This Rapid Assessment is a focused effort to identify events, uses, conditions, developments and other items within the watershed that may, over time, have a negative effect on wild salmon populations and healthy habitat. No timeline of risk is assigned, and current capacity to address and manage risk is not specifically evaluated. This report does not focus on specific projects or regulatory framework. It is general in nature, and is intended to stimulate further discussion of existing and emerging pressures and risks on wild Copper River salmon and their habitats.
The assessment is based on visual observation, practical experience, scientific knowledge and the historic perspective of knowledgeable individuals. No investigative science or development of new data has been undertaken.
