THEME: Park Boundary Cover Name: glba_bnd SCALE: 1:63,360 SOURCE: National Park Service DATE: Work performed late 1989 to mid 1991 LAST UPDATE: 9/21/95 - J. Piercy(NPS) Project: Administrative Boundaries PARKS DATABASE: Parks is a statewide summary of all park, preserve, monument and current wilderness boundaries. Data used in preparation of the maps were obtained from USGS 1:250,000 topographic maps depicting the ANILCA boundaries compiled in 1980 by the Interior Alaska Planning Group. These boundaries were transferred to 1:63360 mylar base maps and were reviewed for accuracy by ARO Division of Lands. Base maps at 1:250,000 were used for some areas of GAAR, KOVA and NOAT because 1:63360 scale maps were unavailable at that time. Coastline follows mean high tide as shown on USGS quadrangles and therefore does not exclude state-owned tidally influenced land. BASE MAP PREPARATION: Mylar sheets were taped over mylar USGS topographic quadrangle base maps. Lines to be digitized were drawn with .00 Rapidograph pens. Black was used for existing boundaries, red for proposed boundaries, and yellow for reference lines. Red pencil was used by Div. of Lands to indicate corrections. WRST and DENA had been prepared by the Denver Service Center for the Mining EIS Project, and the lines were drawn directly on the base maps.
