Description
    Abstract
Oregon lithology. Faults are in a
separate coverage. The legend for southeastern Oregon is in the
    coverage orlegend.

    Purpose
The map was originally compiled on 1:400,000-scale quarters of the early
1980s version of the Oregon base map for publication at
1:500,000. These data were digitized by USGS NMD Thematic Map
Unit and then reprojected to the new (late 1980s) Oregon
1:500,000-scale state base map. This digital work was done
primarily in the Scitex sytem. Conversion of scitex products for
publication to ARC/INFO format was done to create this coverage.
The major task in this conversion was translation of the Scitex
color parameters to the map unit names used in ARC/INFO.

Date: Winter, 1992 Name: Gary Raines
Description of update: Roger Ashley and others familiar with
the geology checked a proof print and found half a dozen errors
on the printed version that were incorporated. These occurred
primarily in western and northeastern Oregon.
    Comments:

Date: August 26, 1993 Name: Gary Raines
Description of update: From Marshall Gannett (USGS WRD), 5
polygons in the Willamette drainage basin were mislabeled.
Polygon #1137 was Qpl and is changed to Qal. Polygon #5427 was
Qpl and is changed to Tfee. Polygon #3582 was Pzs and is changed
to OW (open water) for Marion Lake. These two were mislabeled on
published map. Polygon #4186 was Tsfj and is changed to Tut.
Polygon #2772 was KJg and is changed to QTa. This polygon was
    properly labeled on printed map.
Comments: The mistaged KJg might occur elsewhere. It is not
clear to me how this error occurred.
